Help us kick off National Lung Cancer Awareness Month and join us in the fight against lung cancer by participating in the LungStrong 15K/5K at Jetton Village (Jetton Rd. & Catawba Ave.) in Lake Norman NC on September 28th 2013.
The Run/Walk event is open to all participants who seek a challenge, runner-friendly course or just a fun and healthy way to support Lung Cancer awareness. The event features Live Music, a Wall of Honor, Massages, Prizes, Inflatables for the kids and much, much more.
The LungStrong 15K/5K benefits the Presbyterian Cancer Center's Early Screening for Lung Cancer study (I-ELCAP program) along with the LUNGevity Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to funding lung cancer research.
We would like to congratulate our TOP FUNDRAISING TEAMS of 2012
Jen B achieved the perfect balance between working mom and raising a family. Jen B and Jen P met in 1996 when they both worked at a super fun ad agency along with 30 or so other “Jens.” Jen B was always so incredibly dedicated to her job and she climbed the ladder quickly. After giving birth to her daughter, Claire, Jen decided to continue on with her successful career. In doing so, she wanted to give a voice to the working moms on Charlotte Smarty Pants. In the early days of CSP, Jen and Jen would constantly hash out their struggles between “is it easier to be a working mom or stay-at-home mom?” They both came to the conclusion that if they could merge the greatest aspects of both together, then they would have the perfect life.
We tragically lost Jennifer Bunich to non-smoking lung cancer on February 4, 2008. Charlotte Smarty Pants was forever changed. You will always find a piece of her here. We miss you Jen!"
Bo, his wife, Christi, and 3 year-old daughter, Addi, live in the Lake Norman area. He is a businessman, community supporter and all around great guy. In May of 2006, Bo, a non-smoker, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. After undergoing treatment for almost two years, Bo recently underwent a double lung transplant and today is living cancer free! Through his struggle, Bo has remained a source of inspiration to many people. He and his family have blogged about his fight at Bo's blog and have also started a charity, Addi’s Cure, where 100% of the money raised goes to the research, treatment and cure of this disease.
